 Awkward, Uncomfortable and Uncertain

I bet you’ve never felt any of these, right?

Wow, I wish I was right. But unfortunately when I review my life and listen to my clients’ stories I realize that we feel these types of feelings more than we’d like to.

The reason why feelings of awkwardness, discomfort or uncertainty continually arise is because of our reaction to them. Usually, we attempt to escape the situation and then do anything we can to avoid it from happening again. Both of these choices cause bigger problems, because the more predictable and “safe” we try to force life to be the more stress we feel. And, by burying it away we are simply pretending the fear is not there and instead are giving it a chance to hide until it surprises us again.

A Different Look

Look at awkwardness, discomfort and uncertainty as important tools we have in our evolutionary toolbag.

They communicate to us when we are rubbing up against a limiting belief we have of ourselves…a belief that is stealing our happy minutes and robbing us of living to our truest potential.

If we want to reduce the amount of time we spend feeling anxiety and fear then we must take a close look at the situation and evolve through it. In 2014, try these steps whenever you experience a situation that causes you to feel awkward, uncomfortable or uncertain.

The Steps

  1. 1. Journal: Write down what happened as specifically as possible. Re-read it and highlight the most emotional aspects of the writing. Sometimes the root of the fear is easily seen as well as the steps to slowly dissolve it. If not, close your eyes and ask you Higher Self* for answers.
  2. 2. Pray: Call in your spiritual team to support and guide you through this limitation.
  3. 3. Intend: Make an inner intention that you will learn from this in order to grow through it.
  4. 4. Human Resources: Ask for help. If you are struggling though this transformation, contact me for an Transformational Healing Session. Talking it out with a trustworthy friend can also be helpful.
  5. 5. Trust in the process. The mere fact that you are open to seeing that growth is needed is usually enough to propel you past this limitation.

*The Higher Self is the aspect of your inner being that exists in a place much deeper than your physical, mental or emotional body. The best way to access this place is to close your eyes, ask for some guidance and then let go and wait. Be open to what comes up, even if you think you are imagining or mentally creating it. Trust in the process. Record it, read it and if you feel it’s good advice go for it. The more you work with this intuitive part of you the stronger it becomes.

I hope you enjoyed week to of this 10 week “Awakening in 2014” series. More to come!
