“The roller coaster isn’t going to stop but you can learn to enjoy the ride.”-Dave Lesinski

In order to move gracefully through life’s perceived ups and downs we must combine two forces. The two forces we must blend are:

1. A daily spiritual practice in order to bring in the “Divine light”.
2. Getting Real: Practical, real-life decision making.

With a little self-analysis we will notice that most of us are doing one or the other. Modern Ayurveda is sincerely focused on supporting people in blending the two forces together in order for you to grow effeciently to empowering levels of health and happiness.

1. A Spiritual Practice
A daily spiritual practice that fits your routine and schedule in paramount if you are interested in letting go of the stress baggage that gets in the way of your health and happiness. By letting go of the baggage more love and Divine light immediately and naturally fills the space. For more details on this process and how to develop a spiritual practice of your own check out the Emotional Detox Program.

You know you are involved in a quality spiritual practice when you look back at the starting point and say, “Wow, since starting this spiritual work I have made profound, powerful and positive growth in who I am and how I live.” Or, “My daily happy minutes have drastically increased since I started.”

Each one of us will gravitate toward a different style of spirituality, and the key is finding a spiritual flow that works for you. Currently, I enjoy Heart-Based Meditation as the root of my practice and top it off with prayer and healing breath yoga. I’m also incorporating the Healing Codes (Dr. Lloyd, Dr. Johnson) work as I am always willing to try something new.

If you are not quite ready for meditation and prayer honor that. Instead, design what I call Mini-Retreats. These are five minute relaxation times that can be pretty much anything that helps you zone out for a of couple minutes. This could be done at home or the office. Here are a few mini-retreat examples to get you thinking. If needed I can support you in designing this for you.

  1. Taking a break from work. Close your eyes, lean back in your chair and listen to a beautiful song.
  2. Create a space in your house with some pictures or artifacts that make you think of peace or relaxation. Simply sit in that space and see if you can sense or feel the peace in that space.
  3. Try Savoring 3 times a day.

Always finish this relaxation period by placing your hand on your heart and giving gratitude to whatever higher power you believe in for the time to relax.

2. Getting Real
Life is a bit of a roller coaster. Problems are going to come up once in a while. Disagreements with others are bound to show up and sometimes things are not going to go the way we think they should. At these times it is crucial that we face the issue with all the dignity, power and love we can muster up!

If we take a look we may notice a handful of things that are happening in our life that we wish were different. Sometimes we are still experiencing the backlash of things that happened a long time ago.

Unfortunately, we often choose to run and hide from these things rather than deal with them. Sometimes this running is a choice we make at the moment of action and other times it’s a subconscious choice that our ego-mind makes without us realizing it in order to protect us.

We may feel that facing the issue will cause too much trouble or we are fearful of what might happen in life if we take on this issue.

In these cases we have to get real. We have to take the power we are creating during our spiritual practice and use it to be the best, loving being we can be, and yes this means facing the challenges of life, not running from them.

Lately I have noticed a lot of people are doing the spiritual practice but then sitting back and waiting for God to happen. BIG MISTAKE. The ups and downs in life are the Divine-God happening in order for us to live, love and grow. For more details on this concept re-read the blog, The Garage.
